Volunteering Feels Rosy!

May 16, 2011

The Rose Festival became a success more than a century ago because of the volunteer efforts of people in the local community. Volunteerism is one of the festival's most significant values, as well as the key factor that keeps it going strong! There are countless opportunities for both groups and individuals to get involved with Rose Festival events. Many events are still looking for teams of volunteers.

Never thought picking up trash bags could be glamorous? Try doing it under the lights at the PGE/SOLV Starlight Parade! The parade needs folks to help keep it the Cleanest and Greenest Parade in the World. 100 volunteers are needed on Saturday evening, June 4. And, of course, the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade is no slacker! Rose Festival's famous cleanup efforts continue on Saturday, June 11.

The Regence Grand Floral Walk is Portland's Fitness Parade. 2500 walkers meet in registration on Saturday, June 11, and they need helpers to get them registered and moving successfully down the parade route, as well as volunteers to hand out water and chairs when they reach their final destination. Be part of this exciting morning!

Groups of volunteers are being recruited to help at the Rose Festival's largest event, CityFair! The renaissance of this Waterfront Park event means more features, more fun and the need for more help. Group leaders can call Rosanna Linnell for more information.

More information about all the opportunities is available on the Volunteer page of this website.
