Call For Volunteer Cultural Performers At Oregon's Biggest Event
February 24, 2010
Celebrating cultural diversity, the Portland Rose Festival seeks volunteer performance artists for its Waterfront Village Dex World Rhythms Stage and in the KeyBank Grand Floral Parade. Opportunities to perform cultural music and dance routines in traditional costume attire are available for both children's and adult groups at the Waterfront Village. The KeyBank Grand Floral Parade welcomes all students and people of diversity to showcase their ethnic and vintage costuming in one of the nations largest all-floral parades.
Waterfront Village World Rhythm Stage
Volunteer cultural groups performing on the Dex World Rhythms Stage highlight Portland's diverse ethnic heritages and important cultural traditions. Past dance performers have included cloggers, swing, salsa and hip hop. Costumed ethnic dance groups have also showcased Irish, German, Latvian, Cambodian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Hawaiian-style dances. Music groups have played folk, bluegrass, Dixieland Jazz, Cajun, African, Caribbean and many other music genres. We also welcome cheerleading groups, stunt teams, and storytellers, jugglers, magicians, comedians, and clowns, making the Waterfront Village all for fun and fun for all!
Performance opportunities are available between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. on all open dates between May 28 and June 13. (Waterfront Village is closed on Tuesday, June 1, and Monday & Tuesday, June 7 & 8.) Each performance should be approximately 45-minutes. Application forms may be obtained by emailing (email@example.com) Laura Mears -- or calling 503.227.2681. Opportunities are limited -- the application deadline is Friday, April 16.
