Why purchase tickets to see the Grand Floral Parade?

Spectators watching in the Memorial Coliseum see THREE events for the price of one: the Queen's Coronation, the Grand Floral Walk and the Grand Floral Parade. Your assigned seat awaits you, with all the amentities of being indoors (comfortable seats, no 'weather worries,' restrooms and concessions).

Spectators who sit in our outdoor bleachers (with assigned seats) can view both the Grand Floral Walk and Grand Floral Parade, with the added excitement of being right by the area where TV broadcasts these events (with easy access to portable restrooms).

The Grand Floral Parade is Portland's Biggest Party!

At Portland's Party, the anticipated event that comes busting out of the center of the cake every year is the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade! A reflection of both the local and international communities, this popular procession is more than a special event, it's an annual tradition.

This year's flavorful and flower-ful celebration will fulfill anyone's appetite for spectacle. Emphasizing visual and auditory entertainment on a grand scale, the parade features 17 all-floral floats, 18 marching bands, 19 equestrian units and many other special entries. Vintage vehicles, flag-festooned marching groups and colorful dancers are icing on the cake. And watch for that royal reveler, the Clown Prince, waving from his own moving throne; in the Grand Floral Parade he's both a party favor and the festival's favorite partier!

The filling of this year's Grand Floral Parade includes three sections with special celebration themes, as well as many festival favorites, like the Royal Rosarians and the One More Time Around Again Marching Band presented by Standard TV and Appliance. For the first time in five years the Rose Festival Court will be presented on a float, a replica of one from 1946 sponsored by Radio Cab. Another new float sponsor, Life Flight, features an entirely different form of transportation, a helicopter! And the Spokane Lilac Festival celebrates their 75th Anniversary with a special appearance in the Northwest's grandest parade.

The parade features the following special sections:

Celebrate Oregon, presented by University of Oregon ~ Everything Oregon includes well known rodeos around the state, like the Pendleton Round-Up and the St. Paul Rodeo. Led by the University of Oregon Duck Truck, cheerleaders and the Duck himself, the section also welcomes this year's grand marshal, one of Oregon's first citizens, Gerry Frank.

Celebrate Service, presented by U.S. Bank ~ Color this section red, white and blue! Patriotism and volunteerism are highlighted by entries from the Oregon National Guard, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and the Royal Rosarians.

Celebrate Cultures, presented by The Boeing Company ~ Floats represented the Indonesian community, the Vietnamese community, the Portland-Kaohsiung Sister City Association and the Sikhs of Washington are surrounded by marching and dancing groups, including two who have come all the way from Nagoya, Japan. Popular returning entries include Lee's Association Lion and Dragon Dancers, fresh from their appearance at this year's Inaugural Parade in Washington D.C., and the famous dancing Fresians of Rancho Tres Potrillos.

Grand Marshal - Celebrating Gerry Frank

The 2013 Grand Marshal is an author, a speaker, a veteran, a statesman, a businessman, a volunteer, and a fourth-generation Oregonian with degrees from Stanford and Cambridge. The superlatives and accolades for Oregon's own Gerry Frank cannot be easily summarized. Simply stated, Gerry Frank is Oregon. It's fitting to find him featured in the 'Celebrate Oregon' section of this year's parade. As Chief of Staff to former US Senator Mark O. Hatfield for twenty years and as a trustee to literally dozens of Oregon community institutions, Gerry has contributed his energy and expertise to Oregon's evolution. He has served on countless boards, both corporate and volunteer, including being an honorary director of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation since 1969.

Reserved seating is available at Veterans Memorial Coliseum and includes admission to the Queen's Coronation presented by Pacific Power (from 8:30 a.m. -9:15 a.m.). Reserved seats are also available in premium chairs and bleachers along the television area, just outside the Coliseum. Parade guests inside the Memorial Coliseum have a true 'window on the world' -- with the curtains opened so natural light and the sight of the river and the west hills can serve as a backdrop to the parade entries!

The parade will be telecast live on Fox 12, and will be available for viewing after the event on Comcast On Demand.

After this year's parade, the floats will be displayed adjacent to CityFair on SW Naito Parkway at the Grand Floral Float Showcase. There will be no charge for viewing the floats, which will be open from 3:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
